Earlier this year NNR decided to make a significant investment to enhance the ocean capabilities of PowerNET, NNR’s enterprise logistics system. The new system features are expected to roll out by the end of this year. Some of the key improvements will be:
- Upgrades to the customer web portal for both FCL and LCL shipment tracking.
- Additional email alert capabilities for “push-based” ocean cargo visibility.
- Additional EDI implementations with ocean and rail carriers to offer more timely and accurate tracking events.
- Global standardization of NNR’s ocean documentation (both paper and electronic versions)
According to Andy Hadley, NNR’s Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing, “The growth of our ocean business is one of our most important strategic initiatives. We are investing in several areas to ensure we are delivering an extremely competitive ocean product. As an industry leader in IT, we felt improving PowerNET’s capabilities for ocean logistics was the obvious starting point. We will continue focusing on ocean growth into 2011.”
